Personal Care Assistants - EOI Casual Position

About the Role:

The Hospice is always looking for a suitably qualified and experienced personal care assistant for a casual position. As a personal carer for the Toowoomba Hospice your duties would include the provision of high quality care to our clients and their families. Additional duties may include housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care to clients and assisting the registered nurse on duty.

As the Hospice is a 24hr facility we require personal carers who are able to work a variety of shifts, morning, afternoon and night duty, throughout the week. 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide care and services which align with the Toowoomba Hospice principles, values and Mission.

Be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team whilst also being confident with working autonomously as required reporting to the RN or supervisor on duty throughout the shift.

Be able to assist palliative clients at the end of their lives with personal care services and care planning in conjunction with the Registered Nurse, as well as domestic duties and food preparation as required.

Work within you scope of practice and expertise being aware of WH&S commitments and concerns as well as participating in continuous quality improvement activities.

Remain up to date with mandatory education and training.

Key Requirements:

Minimum Certificate III in Aged and Disability Support

At least 5 years experience in a similar field 

Current Police Check 

The ability to work as part of a small team and take direction as required

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Prioritization and time management skills

Ability to provide person-centred and consumer-directed care

Demonstrated experience with personal care, medications, hoists & manual handling

About the Toowoomba Hospice

The Toowoomba Hospice is a not for profit, accredited, private, 6 bed healthcare facility, based in Toowoomba. The Toowoomba Hospice has been well supported by community funding for over 18 years. We provide culturally appropriate, patient centred palliative care, to our clients and their families.
