Pastoral Care Co-ordinator - Part Time Position

About Us: The Toowoomba Hospice is Toowoomba's only purpose-built palliative care facility. We are a small, not for profit organisation supporting clients at the end of their lives. The Hospice has a wonderful team of dedicated staff and volunteers who are passionate about providing the very best care for our clients. Our mission at the Toowoomba Hospice is to provide safe quality care in partnership with the community for those with a terminal illness. The Toowoomba Hospice provides palliative and respite care based on mutual respect, trust and individual needs to a variety of clients and their loved ones.

About the Role:

The Hospice is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Pastoral Care Co-ordinator for a permanent part time position. As the Pastoral Care Co-ordinator for the Toowoomba Hospice your duties would include:

  • Provision of high-quality pastoral and spiritual support to our clients and their families

  • Coordinating bereavement support services for up to 12 months post discharge

  • Coordinating a small, dedicated team of volunteer pastoral care support workers

  • Chairing regular Pastoral Care Sub-committee meetings with the aim of promoting and improving pastoral care within the region

  • Facilitation of annual bereavement support functions

  • Facilitating regular grief support groups with past consumer families

  • Liaising with a multidisciplinary team including Registered Nurses, Personal Care Workers, Volunteers and Administration and Fundraising staff

 

Key Requirements:

  • Suitable qualifications in Pastoral Care, i.e. Clinical Pastoral Education, Certificate IV Chaplaincy, Psychology and/ or Counselling.

  • Extensive experience with Pastoral Care in general and Palliative Care in particular

  • Experience as a grief support facilitator favourable.

  • Work with compassion, common sense, empathy, integrity and respect

  • Ability to provide person-centred and consumer-directed care

  • Highly developed communication, interpersonal and active listening skills

  • Appropriate vaccination requirements to work within healthcare facilities

  • Competent to work with electronic reporting systems (PalCare software)

  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team

  • Current police check

  • Past co-ordinator experience or leadership role favourable.
